The first two weeks

Jackson at five days old...

The girls have both been SO good with their little brother, and they each hold him several times a day.

Our first attempt at "tummy time." Jackson was fast asleep within a minute.

And a glimpse at our first photo shoot...what a ham!! I did get some "good" pics of him, but these are the ones that made me laugh. Maybe I'll add in some more respectable ones when I have a little more time and it's not 2:30am.

Flashback

Before I share any new photos of our newly expanded family, I want to go back a few weeks to our "pre-Jackson" days and post some pictures from our last outing as a family of four. According to my camera, the following shots were taken on May 2, so 11 days before Jackson's arrival (I have to rely on technology, because my sleep-deprived, pregnancy-dulled brain can't remember squat anymore). Keith, the girls, and I spent the day up on Mount Diablo with Keith's friend and rock-climbing buddy, John. While the guys climbed up and then rappelled off the mountain (they like to try to scare me and rappel "Aussie" style...i.e. run down sheer cliffs face-first while screaming like Tarzan), I had a picnic with the girls and watched them scramble around on some of the large boulders at the base of the rock-climbing area. Our family then drove to the top of the mountain to the observation area and enjoyed gorgeous views of the greater San Francisco Bay area. We got a good laugh after overhearing a woman proclaim that Mt. Diablo is the tallest mountain in the U.S. Or wait, maybe just in California...not hardly, at only 3800ft.

Jackson is here!

We're so happy to announce that Jackson Sean Knittel made his debut last Thursday, May 13, at 12:22pm! He weighed in at a very healthy 8lbs. 9.2oz. (huge in comparison to his big sisters, who were 7lbs. 2oz. and 6lbs. 3.5oz...especially considering that he showed up a week before his due date), and he measured 21 inches long. He's doing very well adjusting to life in our often-chaotic household, and his big sisters absolutely ADORE him! They are constantly asking if they can hold him, and Giselle loves to "pet" him and kiss him. We're all so glad our perfect little boy is finally here with us!
